History: During the Depression, the Puzzling Purloiner would interrupt radio broadcasts with a daily crime riddle. He once was able to steal The World's Largest Diamond from The Diamond Club, even though it was being guarded by some of the greatest costumed heroes (and their freelance sidekicks) at the time. His true identity was not discovered until recently.
